My family adopted our deaf pitbull Hope on December 8th 2011 from Lilos Promise. As a baby she was brutally abused by her previous owners and lived under a deck for the first few weeks of her life. Since then Hope has come a long way…
Lilos found Hope living under a porch in Vineland, NJ. She was badly abused, had missing skin, could barely walk, and was severely underweight. She was only 15 weeks old.
This picture was taken the first week we had Hope. She looks very calm in this picture, but would destroy that doggy bed a few weeks later.
Hope had to have multiple hip surgeries to correct her sever hip problems. She had to wear a cone for a couple weeks and kept getting her toys caught in it.
In her first few weeks with my family, Hope was a little skittish and shy. However as time went on she became much more attached to her new family and became comfortable in her new home.
When we first got Hope she laid by herself and was very shy, but now she lays on top of people and crushes them with her big body.
One of Hope’s favorite activities is fetch. At first she was terrible at the game and didn’t understand the concept. Today she is an expert and wants to play anytime I’m doing work or busy.
However, sleeping on the couch is still one of her favorite and most frequent activities.
In the summer Hope loves to splash around in her baby pool and play with her pool toys.
Hope also loves to lay on the deck and relax in the sun.
During the winter, Hope loves to play in the snow. It doesn’t matter how much snow there is, she will plow through it and run around the backyard.
Hope still gets nervous around strangers, but when she’s around her family she is a sweet and loving girl.
The dog who used to live under a deck in Vineland, now spends her day relaxing on top of the deck with her family.
